Requirements for Obtaining a
Building Permit
When submitting a permit application for a New Home & Septic System, the applicant must supply the Zoning Department with:
· Septic system design from a licensed and registered professional
· Pre- evaluation request form
· site plan
When submitting a permit application for an Addition of a Bedroom, the applicant must have a compliance inspection done by a licensed and registered designer or inspector. If the compliance inspection shows the septic system is in compliance and sized for the addition:
1. Crow Wing County>>>>>>>>>issue the permit after they do a site inspection. the applicant must submit:
· Copy of the notice of compliance from the designer or inspector.
· pre- evaluation inspection request form
· site plan
2. If the septic system is non-compliance, the applicant
Must bring the septic system into compliance. The Applicant must submit:
· Septic system design from a licensed and registered designer
· Notice of non compliance from the designer
· site plan
When submitting a permit application for a Deck,Accessory Building, Porch, Garage, or Addition permits. (Other then a bedroom addition):
1. If Crow Wing County >>>>>>>>>has records on the septic system, the office will verify the septic system is conforming. The applicant must submit:
· Pre- evaluation request form
· site plan
2. If the Crow Wing County >>>>>>>>>does not have records of the septic system the applicant must have a compliance inspection done by a licensed and registered designer or inspector.
A. If the system is non- compliance, the applicant must bring the septic into compliance. The applicant must submit:
* Septic system designer from a licensed and registered designer
* Pre-evaluation request form
* Site plan
B. If the septic system is in compliance, the applicant must submit:
* A copy of the certificate of compliance
* Pre-evaluation request form
* Site- plan
* Site plans should show approximate property boundaries approximate building location to lot lines and roads.
